Michael Anschel is making his blog debut with comments, questions and ideas about Green as it relates to the design and construction industry.

Michael is the owner of Otogawa-Anschel Design-Build a nationally recognized award wining design-build firm that is committed to Green design and construction. The firm has been recognized as a leader in Green building with awards both locally and nationally for their work in this area. Otogawa-Anschel Design-Build is a member of NARI of MN, BATC, BAM, ASID, and of course the BBB.

Michael is the CEO of Verified Green, Inc. a consulting firm that provides training and expertise on Green for cities, code officials, architects, builders, remodelers, manufacturers, distributors, and institutions. Verified Green, Inc. works with these different groups to help bring a better understanding about what it means to build Green, how to evaluate the attributes of a product or system to determine where it can be of benefit, and how to interface and navigate the often confusing jungle that Green is.

Michael led the Green Remodeling Group in the development of what has become Minnesota GreenStar, Minnesota’s Green building standard for remodeling and new home construction. He served as interim director for MN GreenStar in 2007 and is vice-president of the board of directors for MN GreenStar for 2008. Michael is working with MN GreenStar on the development of standards for: Multi-family, Neighborhood development, condominium remodel, and and existing home Green rating system that will allow for a snapshot in time evaluation of the Green-ness of a structure.

Michael speaks on Green building and design locally and nationally. He is a contributor to and has been featured in numerous publications including: Journal of Light Construction, Remodeling, Qualified Remodeler, Upscale Remodeling, Luxury Renovation, Midwest Home, Minneapolis/St.Paul Magazine, the Star Tribune, the Builders Journal, and the TV show Home Time.

Michael does not generally refer to himself in the third-person, but this bio page seems to lend itself to that voice.

Enjoy.
